Psoriatic Arthritis Ups and Downs

By last night, my arthritis pain was pretty bad. I was feeling discouraged by the whole thing, thinking that my experiment was not going very well. Luckily, in the morning when I woke up, there was no pain at all. I don’t know the reason yet, but here are some of the things that I’ve been working on.

When I first woke up, I had my 200 g of ripe papaya, as I mentioned in yesterday’s post.

For breakfast I had buckwheat groats with split pea soup, a little avocado, some chopped pickles, sunflower seeds, and some chopped green herbs.

For lunch, I made a large salad, with lots of lettuce, a little chopped avocado, chopped pickled turnips, pumpkin seeds, and a dressing made from tahini, lemon juice, and water. I also had a couple of pieces of fruit in the afternoon — maybe a plum and an apricot.

For dinner, I had more split pea soup, with some avocado, sauerkraut, puréed green vegetables, and chopped herbs.

I’m also doing some yoga stretches during the day, and planks for 30 seconds each to increase core strength.

I’m also getting some sun each day, hoping to clear up some of the skin psoriasis that had improved during the fast.

I think that I’m getting up to my normal daily caloric intake, so I will start restricting calories on some days. I may start with 5:2 — 5 days per week of eating normally, and 2 nonconsecutive days per week with only about 500 calories each.

Tonight, there is some arthritis pain, but I think that it is not as bad as yesterday. I will see how tomorrow goes.
